Welcome to Quito - Blog Entry June 14th, 2016

After two flights our group has arrived in Quito, Ecuador. We’ll be here overnight for a chance to recharge before flying on to the Galapagos Islands. We took some time today to photograph and explore the streets of Quito and visited the Botanical Gardens. Then later this evening we attended our welcome dinner, offering up some of the Ecuador’s cuisine including some very tasty deserts. This is all good as we will need energy for the upcoming days of exploring the islands.

Our flight departs for the islands tomorrow at 7:00 a.m. once we have arrived we will meet our naturalist guide and board our home away from home the Galapagos Queen for the next 8 days. Enjoy a selection of images from our day in Quito.

This guy was busy watching the activities on the street.

Some very interesting plants within the gardens.

This plant is a meat eater, it attracts flies and other bugs inside then digests them.

Oh my gosh, what an amazing trip. I will be able to relive it for the next 10 days. I still haven't got my land legs back. The botanical gardens were gorgeous, and so fun to see different hummingbirds, butterflies, and flowers. What a great bunch of people to share this experience with.
Thanks James, Katherine, and Renee for a once in a lifetime experience.
