Sun Nov 27th & Mon Nov 28th, 2016 - Bangkok and the Floating Market
We are now winding down our Thailand and Burma adventure and have just competed the last two days of our visit in Bangkok. Tomorrow afternoon we begin our journey home. The last couple of days we enjoyed Bangkok and the surrounding area and them many sights the region has to offer. One of the highlights was the Floating Market of Damnoen Saduak, we traveled up the many canals photographing the many sites before arriving at the markets. What a great experience. Later in the day we took a second river cruise back into Bangkok. Enjoy todays selection of photographs.
Longboats waiting to ferry us through the canals.
The canals are set up on grids and the corners can be very sharp for a boat.
There does not seem to be a speed limit.
Beautiful flowers on this house.
Back of another house.
Corner store, really!
Lady waiting for passengers on her water taxi.
How about lunch?
Deep fried bananas.
A few of our photographers can be seen in this part of the market.
Flowers at the front of the boat are quite common and a symbol of good luck.
Here’s how congested the market can be, and this is just one street.
Another view of the market.
In HDR B&W.
Even under the street bridge.
Market vender with a full boat of fruit.
Every corner of the canals have shops facing the water.
Even cooking while you wait.
Very intense vender.
Silk anyone?
Wendy, Marian and Pat had a chance to try on Thai head gear today.
This was our lunch stop today.
Some of the village homes.
A large monitor soaking up the sun along the shoreline.
Bangkok skyline. That interesting looking building is the cities tallest.
A temple completely of ceramics and porcelain.
Another view of the temple.
They are currently restoring the temple.
Some Chinese influence.
Interesting office building.
As the sun started to set, the night market near our hotel.
Good night from Bangkok.
