Sedona Tour Day Seven April 20th, 2011

April 20, 2011

An early start back at Antelope Canyon this morning made for more rewarding photography.  The early morning light mixed with the blue sky highlighted the curves and lines of the canyon.  We were also made sure to be at the point in the canyon at approximately 10:20 a.m. when the sunlight shines through a shaft in the canyon ceiling.  We were not disappointed and many interesting exposures were made.  A few of the images are below.  We also spent some time playing with the strong beam of light using it to create other interesting photographs.

At the end of the four hour shoot this morning the group were happy with their results.  Many commented that the second day back at the canyon allowed them to study their previous day shots then go back and work on details that they missed the day before.   Thank you to staff at the canyon for working with us to make the shoot a great success.

After lunch we visited Horseshoe Bend in Glen Canyon National Park and the Glen Canyon Dam.  Horseshoe Bend is a one and a half kilometer hike from the parking lot up a grade and across the flat desert.  It was warm but the view at the edge of the Canyon was worth the walk.  We had to be very careful as there are no guard rails at the edge and it was very windy.  Todays mixture of blue sky and fluffy clouds added to the landscape.

We returned to the hotel just before 5:00 p.m. this evening with enough time to wash the red sand of the desert and the canyon away then meet for our farewell dinner.  Everyone had a fun evening, and wrapped up by wishing one of our photographer guests a Happy Birthday.  Happy Birthday Stuart, it was great to have you join us this week.

We are up and out early in the morning as we have a 4 hour and 50 minute drive back to Phoenix to catch our flight home.  It has been a great seven days and we are returning home with some great photographs and new friends.

A special hello to our friends Ross and Paul who at the last minute could not join us for the tour.  We are glad to hear you both are on the mend and best wishes are sent out from the group.

Dave and I would like to thank everyone that joined us this week.  We look forward to sharing another adventure with you again real soon.  Good night from all the Trekkers here in Page, Arizona.
