Polar Bear Photo Tour - "Explore Canada's Arctic Landscape"
Polar Bear Photo Tour - "Join us for the opportunity to photograph one of the world's wonderful natural phenomena - the annual Polar Bear migration occurs along the Hudson Bay Coast in Churchill, Manitoba - The Polar Bear Capital of the World"
Photographers this is an experience not to be missed. During our six day trek you will have opportunity to photograph the polar bears from the vantage point of unique tundra vehicles, then from above via optional helicopter tour, by dogsled and on foot.
Each year during late October to mid November the migration of the Polar Bears through this region opens up for great photographic opportunities. The vast Canadian Shield offers up other wildlife such as Caribou, Arctic Fox, Arctic Hare and Lemmings. We may also encounter the Snowy Owl, Gyrfalcon and many other arctic birds that call this region home.
Our journey begins with an overnight in Winnipeg, Manitoba where we will be staying at the Hilton Suites Hotel. On this first evening we will hold a Welcome dinner and orientation session, presenting the activities of the week.
After breakfast the following morning we will fly from Winnipeg to Churchill via Calm Air. Enroute to our hotel, we will have a brief tour of Churchill. Later in the day we will visit the Eskimo Museum, and then evening dinner followed by a presentation of the Arctic region by photographer Mike Macri. Mike is one of the region's well known nature photographers. This is a presentation not to be missed. Images of the beauty of the seasons comes alive as Mike presents photographs of what we will encounter over the next few days of our adventure.
Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner are included each day of our tour and picnic lunches of hot soup and sandwiches during our tundra vehicle explorations. We will be staying at the Aurora Inn, during our time in Churchill.
Tour highlights:
We have created a packed schedule of activities during our stay in Churchill, Manitoba. We will have two full days out on the Tundra in unique Tundra Vehicles. Each vehicle can hold up to 40 people, but we will be limiting it to our 15 guests, therefore giving every photographer a window seat. The Tundra Vehicles are also equipped with a washroom and an outdoor observation deck located high enough off the ground to safely photograph the polar bears.
On the fourth day of the tour photographers will have the opportunity to spend the morning taking a helicopter tour along the Hudson Bay coast and Cape Churchill. This is a great opportunity to photograph the polar bears from a different perspective. (Guests who wish to opt for the helicopter tour may do so, see pricing schedule for details) In the afternoon of day four we will experience the tundra via dogsledding.
Early evening we will be flying back to Winnipeg. We will again overnight at the Hilton Suites, have a finale dinner party in the evening. The following morning, breakfast then transfer back to the Winnipeg airport for our return flight (s) home. Those traveling with James will fly back to London arriving back into the city mid afternoon.
For those wishing to join us from London and region we are offering WestJet direct flights to Winnipeg.
Please download the brochure for full trip details, and a day by day schedule of events and places we will be visiting during our journey.
