January 19, 2017 - Volcanos, Rainforests and Humming Birds
We were up early this morning for our first day exploring and photographing around the San Jose region of Costa Rica. Our first photo shoot this morning was at Poas Volcano National Park, where we hiked up to the point which overlooks the caldera. There are actually certain times of the year this area can be closed off due to high sulfer content in the air as this is still an active region. Later in the afternoon we visited La Paz Waterfalls which is located in a beautiful rain forest setting. High up in the mountain region this reserve hosts, humming birds, butterflies, frogs and a beautiful array of orchids. Our first day of photography has been excellent.
Tomorrow we head to the lower lands to Cano Negro which is located about 50 km from the Nicaragua boarder. We will be up in this region for the next three days. Below are a selection of images from our first day of photography in Costa Rica.
