January 24th, 2017 - Cloud Forest Reserve & an Adventure in Zip lining
We departed our lodge early this morning to explore and photograph the trails at the Monteverda Cloud Forest Reserve. This rainforest is located at 4,600 feet above sea level thus the name Cloud Forest. The rainforest is a very lush green in colour due to the nearly 12 feet of rain annually. It is home to rare and unusual wildlife, such as jaguars, pumas and over 450 species of birds including the largest population of quetzal birds. After our morning hike we took a lunch break then enjoyed an afternoon of zip lining. What an adventure that was. A cable car takes you to one of the mountain tops, then you take 8 different lines back to the forest floor. It takes about two hours to complete the run. I’ve included some shots of our adventure.
The last series of images today were shot by photographer David Huffman during our tour. Costa Rica is home to some 50 species of humming birds and here is some of the birds he photographed during our tour. Thanks Dave for sharing your images for the blog. Great work too! Enjoy todays selection of images.
