San Juan and Santiago ... today we spent a portion of the day traveling by boat to the villages of San Juan and Santiago. Both villages sit on Lake Atitlan which is a 300 meter deep lake that was formed when a giant volcano collapsed 1,800 years ago. The result a beautiful lake with many small villages.
Each village is unique with both their dress and what they offer. When we visited San Juan we visited several artisan locations including a fabric co-op and a medical herb co-op both were very interesting and offered up many photo opportunities.
Later in the afternoon we sailed to Santiago and toured the village streets, again many different photo opportunities. Tomorrow we depart this region and drive to Antigua. Enjoy this evenings selection of images.
