September 28th Tarangire National Park an amazing day
Another amazing day here in Tanzania. As you look through the images below you will read several interesting stories of todays events. Not only some great experiences but also great photo opportunities to go with it.
Tomorrow we leave this region and head back towards the border and back into Kenya and on to visit our last National Park and safaris called Amboseli National Park. In the mean time enjoy todays selection of images.
Breakfast always tastes better from a termite mound, cape water buffalo

Lilac Crested Roller, singing his sweet song this morning

This is an interesting story, we came across this lion in the tree trying to get down the kill of a leopard

Here you can see her pulling it down from the tree, part of the kill broke away and fell to the ground below the tree

Then down she went with the wildebeest in her mouth
Here you see her walking away

A few minutes later the leopard returned in search of it’s kill only to find part of it on the ground

Down it goes to collect the kill

One more

Then back up the tree with the kill but this time much higher, as lions probably won’t go up that high

See the smile on Franks face he was happy to capture the sequence too
The perfect caption for this image ... let me get that for you (look closely where the bird is. The clean the bugs away from the eyes, ears and nose of the cape water buffalo)
It turned out this tired lion was hungry

Here she is stalking her prey

She got pretty close to our other jeep as she stalked the zebra

But they all got away without harm

This is a white chested weaver

These elephants dig down for the fresh water below the surface in the dried river bed

As you can see mid day many come looking for water ... and the lions come looking for them!

Mom and baby having a bath

This is another watering hole. Tarangire National Park has more elephants per capita than any other natural reserve in Africa

Nothing like wearing the same swimsuit as everyone else for a day at the beach!

Greater red horn bird ... a really big bird!
Everyone stays close to the water on a warm day

Another elephant having a bath to cool off

Then we were lucky enough to come across another leopard and it’s kill. We have had 4 leopard sightings since we started our safari’s

Keeping an eye on all below

Another rare sighting today .... a Python. This photographer was glad the snake was high in a tree

This shutter bug was found it our jeep today. This is a teetse fly
Can you identify what you are looking at?
Answer in the next photo

Another shot of the Greater Red Horn Bird

A couple of sunset shots to finish off the blog this one of the Verreaux’s eagle owl
And as the giraffe walks into the sunset
The final shot is the map showing our destination tomorrow as we head back across the border into Kenya and on to Amboseli National Park.

That's a wrap for this evening. Good night from all of us here in Tanzania.
