Monday August 3rd London, Gatwick to Beachy Head
Trekkers arrived in London, Gatwick at 11:00 a.m. this morning approximately one hour later than our scheduled arrival. We were delayed taking off from Toronto due to the heavy rains and waiting for a replacement pilot to arrive as the weather delay his arrival from Montreal.
We arrived into 24C weather which was quite comfortable and started our coach ride to the south coast region called Beachy Head. This region is know for it’s white chalk cliffs which make up the beautiful landscape. The group spent some time this afternoon wondering the hills and photographing the landscape. It is interesting to note these cliffs have a very high rate of suicide jumpers and there are memorials that can be found along the cliffs. We even say an intervention van that patrols the hills.
Later in the afternoon we drove back along the coast to Brighton. We will be staying here for the next two nights. After dinner some of the group walked along the beach.
Since it had been a very long day there are not as many photos tonight. More updates will follow tomorrow with more images of the region. Tomorrow we will be visit the palace here in Brighton then on to Royal Tunbridge Wells and Hastings.
Enjoy this evenings selection of images and good night from us in Brighton, England.
