Tue Nov 15th, - Sunrise U-Bein Bridge, Sagaing Village, Mandalay Temples
We were up at and out by 4:45 am to catch the early morning light and sunrise at U-Bein bridge. U-Bein is Mandalay’s most famous landmark and claims fame to being the longest bridge in the world all made of teak. It was a great clear morning for pre sunrise light and then a spectacular sunrise to make for an amazing photo shoot. Later we took a walk along the bridge met some monks from a nearby monastery who happened to enjoy having their photo taken and taking photographs too. A great morning at U-Bein.
We then headed into the hills that surrounded Mandalay to explore and photograph some of the temples and visit a orphanage and monastery. In order to get higher up in the mountain region we had to leave our motor coach and board small transport to reach our destination. We also visited the small village of Sagaing where we had a chance to visit a family pottery business, very different from at home. Those who know Nancy McRae will know she really enjoyed this part.
Tomorrow we leave Mandalay and travel to Monica. Enjoy selection of photographs.
