Tuesday Nov 22nd, 2016 - Inle Lake and the 17 Villages on Stilts.
Today we spent the entire day exploring and photographing some of the villages on nIle Lake and meeting the Intha people who live here. During the day we visted the Indein temple complex, a black smith and silver smith shop and in Inn Paw Khon Village say Lotus and silk weaving. This is also a time of festival where thousands of monks visit the area and take offerings at the temple pagoda to distribute for charity. The small village waterways were very busy with long boat traffic heading to and coming from the festival. Enjoy the selection of images from todays photo shoot.
Sunrise outside our villas this morning.
All the villas are connected with boardwalks, it is a very peaceful place.
The flowers starting to open in the surrounding waters.
The morning light as we sail out to the small villages on stilts.
A long boat moored up beside the rows upon rows of floating gardens.
More of the floating gardens, these are tomatoes.

They continue to add rings as they get older and stretch the neck.
Laundry day at this stilted home.
This is the unique way of rowing on the lake. The locals do this so they can have two hands free to tend to their nets.

Using the bellows to get the fire nice and hot.

This gives you an idea of how large some of the homes on stilts are.
