September 29th & 30th 2014 Venice, Italy
We are now in the beautiful city of Venice. This is truly a photographers paradise, something interesting around every corner. On and off the canals.
Since arriving in Venice we have visited La Fenice, Venice’s oldest opera house. Which has had a very interesting history including burning down and being restored three times. The last time was only recent in 1996 when it was under restoration. Each time it has been restored to it’s grandeur. Complete with a Royal box that once was occupied by Napoleon Bonaparte and recently by Prince Charles and Camilla. It was a great experience and our hosts allowed plenty of time for photography.
We have also photographed many of the famous Venice bridges, landmarks and of course the many gondolas. Some of our group even took a romantic ride down the canals themselves.
Tomorrow we visit the Venice Island of Burano. This will prove very rewarding for photos as the buildings are painted with very vibrant colours.
Below are the selection of images from our last couple of days. Enjoy and good night.
One of the many canal entrances this one is located close to our hotel
Anne Marie Rodger sent me this image of a statue being delivered today. Everything moves in Venice via the water. Thanks Anne Marie.
An interesting shop we passed by on our way to the Opera House
The reflections in the canal
The front of the opera house. The facade is the only original part of the structure that is left from the first opera house.
In side the main theatre. Each of the windows you see is a box that seat 4 to 5 people.
The doors to the private boxes, located on each floor.
The beauty of the main theatre
One of the smaller theatre stages within the opera house used for smaller concerts. A group was rehearsing for a concert that evening.

The Bridge of Sighs ... this bridge connected the courts and prison. It’s called the Bridge of Sighs as prisoners being transferred back to the prison would sigh as they saw the beauty out side when crossing the bridge.
