Travel Day and Arrival in Whitehorse
Trekkers have arrived ... after three uneventful flights we have arrived in Whitehorse. The group departed from London airport connecting in Toronto to Vancouver then on to Whitehorse. After breakfast we meet our motor coach and began our journey to Dawson. As we headed north, the glassy waters at Fox Lake offered beautiful morning reflections of the surrounding mountains.
Some light rain added richness to the foliage as the clouds descended to cover the hilltops. At Montague, Albert found us the perfect location of a group photo. This structure was built in 1915 and was used as a roadhouse until the 1950s. The kitchen and eating area were on the main floor and the bedrooms were upstairs. The inside of the building was lined with cheesecloth, both to lighten the dark interior and to prevent the moss and dirt chinking from falling into the rooms.
We arrived in Dawson with light rain falling, but it didn’t dampen our spirits and were soon checked in to our cabins to freshen up before dinner. Our welcome dinner included the largest (and tastiest) deserts you could imagine. But that’s alright, we’ll wear off the extra calories tomorrow as we explore.
Here's a selection of images from our travel and first day. Goodnight from all the Trekkers in Dawson City.

The roadhouse at Montague provided a great backdrop for a group photo.
That's a wrap for this evening. Time to head out for our Welcome dinner and unfortunately an overcast evening means no Northern Lights, here's to clearer skies tomorrow. Good night.
