February 7th Day 1 Bog Post - Coffee Beans and Colourful Creatures

Despite dire predictions of freezing rain and flight cancellations, the Costa Rica Photo Tour Trekkers group got off the ground almost on schedule Wednesday and arrived in San Jose just 20 minutes past the originally scheduled arrival.

The following morning our group assembled on the tour bus at 7:15 a.m. on Thursday and set off for our first day of photography.

First stop was the Doka Estate coffee plantation, where a guide lead a tour of the facility and explained how the beans are grown and prepared for shipping around the world. Next, La Paz Waterfall Gardens, which provided many interesting and photogenic opportunities, ranging from the waterfalls themselves to birds, butterflies, hummingbirds, snakes, frogs and jungle cats.

A weary but happy crew arrived back at the hotel in time to enjoy dinner together and then head off to bed before our early departure and busy day on Friday as we head to Vernal volcano and Cana Negro district. We will be in this region for the next 3 days experiencing the wetlands and the many colourful birds and wildlife. To see todays gallery of images please click on the gallery link below.
