India Photo Tour Day Two and Three
November 21 & 22, 2012
Pushka Camel Festival
We are still here and having a great time. It has been a busy few days and with two days in Pushka and the last two days in Jaipur we have caught up on sleep and sorting images to post to the blog.
The Pushka Camel Fair was amazing and a sight only to be experienced in person ... “There are so many people Penny”. Farmers come from all parts to Pushka to sell their cattle, horses and camels and the event is wrapped up into one big festival.
For the two nights at the fair we stayed in a tented hotel and it was a great experience. It was slightly chilly at night as we were in the desert the temperatures went from 28C to 29C in the day down to 14C at night.
Our day at the festival started with an hour and a half camel ride into town, through the festival grounds, the camel camps and onto Pushka lake to observe the pilgrims coming to the waters to bath and worship.
The markets, people and a sensory overload of images were thrown at us all at once while we explored this once in a lifetime experience.
We are now in Jaipur and have posted the two days of activities in the next blog. Enjoy our collection on Images from the festival.
