Allahabad to Jaipur Monday February 11th, 2013

India2013-88.jpg

It is Monday monrning here in Allahabad and we are departing the Mela festival for Jaipur.

This is a special blog entry to let everyone know at home we are OK.  There have been messages to my email and the blog about the accident at the train station here in Allabahad involving people departing the festival, resutling in some deaths.  We are all OK and traveling by motor coach, we are currently caught in a traffic jam, as the accident has caused many problems with transportation out of the city.  Just yesterday alone there was reports in the news of 30 million pilgrims attending the festival.  Sunday was the Shahi Snan (the Royal Bath), the most important day of festival.

We will be posting more images from the Mela Festival this evening when we reach Jaipur.

James and all the Photo Trekkers in India (safe and sound)  ... well they are not that sound, they have been now exposed to 8 days of my jokes.

Thanks for this update,James. Thank God I spoke to Vivek before I saw the chaos on CNN or I would have flipped out. I'm so glad you are all safe and can't wait to hear all the stories. Thinking of you every day. Every morning, I check your blog for new up-dates and now that you are back in Delhi, I'm sure you'll have better internet. Be safe and enjoy the colours and charms of India
