India Photo Tour - February 12th & 13th, Jaipur & Ranthambore
After returning from the Mela Festival in Allahabad we flew back to Delhi, meet our motor coach and traveled to Jaipur, also know as the Pink City. It is called the Pink City because the old part of the city is surrounded by a pink wall.
We spent the day photographing at various locations in Jaipur, including an early morning elephant ride to the Amber fort follow by a photo shoot. We also photographed today at the floating palace, the observatory, and the Jaipur markets. This evening our group visted the home of our Indian guide Danish for drinks and some food, before returning to our hotel for dinner. A special thanks to Danish, Punan, and thier daughter Princi for being such great hosts.
Wednesday the 13th we departed for Ranthambore National Park. We will have three game drives in this beautiful region over the next two days ... and of course with hopes we have opportunity to photograph the tiger.
Below are some images from Jaipur and our first game drive in Ranthambore. Good night from the Photo Trekkers now just outside of the National Park.
Camel and cart heading into the old part of the Pink City.
Palace of the Winds, the ladies of the palace used to stand behind these screens to watch the street life below. It was forbidden for them to be seen by other men or women. Here they could watch the goings on of everyday life.
Wes and Anna, waiting for their turn to ride the elephant ... nothing like getting into costume for the ride.
Donna got into the mood of the event too.
Jim and Ann enjoying the experience.
Sharon and Richard, made it to the top! This is Sharon and Richard's first tour with us and it is great to have you joining us.
The pigeons flew in right on Q. Overlooking the ruins of the old city, from the Amber fort.
This was an interesting bike just outside the fort gates.
A panoramic shot of the Amber Fort.
The Floating Palace.
Here's a treat for all your hard work at the fort today.
Interesting stair case at the observatory. This is a great place for photography!
Rob having a quiet moment of meditation.
Jim and Ann check their watches for the correct time.
Jaipur City Market, this is a busy place ...
You can never get enough faces in Inida, this was also shot at the old market.
Don't try this at home folks ... you see eveything being moved by bike.
We saw a demonstration on the art of stamping, some of the group tried it on their own shirts. Once you soak it in vinegar, salt and water it sets the natural inks. Wes is having a stamp of an elephant put on his shirt.
The end result.
June had one done too.
A King Fisher soaking up the afternoon sun as we started our game drive.
Keeping a watchful eye from above. A Langur Monkey.
A Rose Ring Necked Parakeet is watching from above too.
This Spotted Owlette allowed us to take our time photographing him.
We almost missed this crocodile all covered in algee from the pond.
A Sambra Deer eating.
White Heron by a little stream.
Thanks Bill for this great shot of a Hoopoe.
Well sorry folks we did not get any shots of the tiger today, but we do have two more game drives tomorrow.
Good night from all the Trekkers now at Ranthambore National Park.
