Today we spent the day exploring and photographing Caurthers Canyon. We reached an altitude of 5,100 feet. The higher we climbed, the more Joshua Trees that appeared all around us, it was pretty amazing. Up in the canyon it was 68F and a beautiful blue sky. What a beautiful day.
Tonight was our welcome dinner at a Mexican eatery, it was great fun. Enjoy some of the images from today’s shoot.
Welcome to the Mojave National Preserve

Interesting flowering pods on the top of many of the the Joshua Trees.
Mountains raising above us as we traveled deeper into the canyon.
The higher we traveled the more the few sparse trees turned more into a forest.
A lone hawk soaring above us.
Cactus starting to start to bloom.
This one looks like stick people.
More spring Joshua Tree seed pods.
On coral high in the mountain pass.
Wind mill at high noon!!
The afternoon sky was dusted with white clouds, this made for a great backdrop.
Look closely at the sign ... no shooting!

This is a Joshua Tree that has died and toppled over. Notice the interesting roots.
More of the trees deep in the canyon.
Every way you turning the mountains made for a beautiful backdrop.
See what happens when you run out of gas deep in the desert canyon!!!
