Namibia Photo Tour Saturday October 26th, 2013Our first full day in Namibia. This morning we left Windhoek to travel south to Keetmanshoop which was approximately 590 km, after an 8:00 a.m. departure we and a few photo stops we arrived around 3:45 p.m. We had time to check in to our hotel, and spend some time exploring and photographing some of the locations around the town before heading out for sunset photos in the Quiver Tree forest. We heard home had some wet snow here. It got up to 32C here today.
While nearing the entrance to the forest we came upon two young male cheetahs who looked like they had just finished a good feed and made it seem they we were more curious about them, than they were of us. The two cheetahs stuck around for about 25 minutes giving us ample time to take some great images of these beautiful cats.
We then went deeper into the forest to scout out several location for sunset images. The combination of these interesting trees and the golden light of the evening sun made for some great shots. We will be back out at 5:30 a.m. to capture the sunrise in the Quiver Tree forest tomorrow morning, then on to Luderitz Bay in the afternoon.
So it’s almost midnight here in Namibia, so time to complete the upload to todays images for the blog and get some sleep. Good night from Keetmanshoop.

This afternoon we went for a walk into the village, Dan and Joyce covering both directions.
It is spring time here and the Jacaranda Trees are in bloom.

We encountered this male cheetah near the entrance to the Quiver Tree Forest.

He sat for a while and kept us entertained.
Then his brother showed up to see what all the noise was about.
They were quite playful when they finally caught up with each other.
Two beautiful cats, we captured many images during our brief encounter.
The quiver trees are very interesting and there approximately 300 in this forest. I’ve included one of our photographers in a few of the shots to give you an idea of the size of the trees.
