Scotland Blog May 27, 2014 - Loch Lomond to Fort William
A great weather day and another great day of photography. Our day started by a visit to Helensburgh and a quick drive by of the Faslane HM Naval base, which is the inland Trident Sub base in northern Scotland. Then a morning cruise on Loch Lomond, before continuing north towards Glencoe and Fort William.
Tomorrow morning we take the Jacobite Steam Train, also know as the Harry Potter Train as it was used in the Harry Potter movies. The train will take us from Fort William to Mallaig. Once we arrive in Mallaig we take the ferry to the Isle of Skye. This will be our base for then next two days of photography. Enjoy a few images from todays photography. Good Night from Fort William.

Bridge of Orchy, near Glencoe. The bridge construction dates back to the Jacobite uprising circa 1740's. One of many army built bridges that are often referred to by locals as Ward Roads, named after the military engineer that build these historic roads.
While photographing the bridge this Royal Navy rescue helicopter few over the river and landed some 800 yards away from us.
The helicopter pad, is right next to the Bridge of Orchy Hotel, how convenient!

A beautiful yellow Scotch Broom in the foreground of the bridge.
Piper at Glen Coe, which means the Glen of weeping. This referrers to the massacre that took place in 1692 when Clan Campbell killed many members of their hosts Clan MacDonald. Because they would not pledge allegiance to the new monarchs William and Mary.

Valley view, this hiking trail stretches from Glasgow to Fort William and is part of the West Highland Way.
