Scotland Blog - Thursday May 29th, 2014 Isle of Skye - Dunvegan Castle
Our first day on the Isle of Skye has been great. Our first shoot this morning was in the beautiful village of Portree. The winding streets, row houses and colourful harbour offered up many photo opportunities.
Mid morning we departed Portree for Dunvegan Castle. Set on an inland salt loch (lake) the castle offers up many photo opportunities. Complete with several many flower gardens the group split up and explored the grounds.
Next stop Talisker Distillery where we sampled some of their 15 year old special edition scotch. Leaving a very warm feeling once a few samples were shared. Then our final stop of the day was Fairy Bridge set at the base of Glamaig Mountain. Each year a marathon race is held from the bridge to the top of Glamaig mountain at 775 meters, a distance of 7 kms. The approximate time for a runner in top form up and back 44 minutes and 27 seconds. We all got across the bridge!
Tomorrow we depart for the Outer Hebrides taking the ferry from Uig to Tarbot. En-route to the boat terminal we will visit the Old Man of Storr rock formation, Kilt Rock and the ruins of Duntulm Castle. Posted are a selection of images from todays trek. Good night from the Isle of Skye.
