Scotland Blog - Thursday June 5th, 2014 - The Isle of Mull
Today we sailed to the Isle of Mull today, and spent the day photographing in and around the town of Tobermory. We had a slight bit of rain to start the day but that gave way to an overcast afternoon. This did not stop us as we photographed in Tobermory then after lunch visited a ship wreck and Duart Castle which is the seat of Clan MacLean.
Duart Castle was also the backdrop for the 1950's movie starring Sir Anthony Hopkins called When Eight Bells Toll and the early 2000's movie starring Catherine Zeta Jones and Sean Connery called Entrapment.
This evening we are back in Oban, then tomorrow we depart for Inveraray. We will be visiting the castle which was recently featured as the summer family house in the television show Downton Abbey. Also the village of Luss and on to our last location of the tour Eriskay. We will be there for the next two evenings.
Here are a few images from todays visit to the Isle of Mull, which by the way is part of the Inner Hebrides. Good night from Oban.
School children boarding a walk on ferry for a school trip this morning.
Their ferry was pulling out as we boarded our ship to sail to the Isle of Mull.
Another great view of Oban as we sailed out of the harbour.
Dunullie Castle in Oban, the seat of Clan MacDougall.
Welcome to Tobermory ... we parked next to this distillery but did no visit. But I have it on the best authority that one of our photographers dropped in for a sample!!
An interesting view of the main street of Tobermory. It is a very colourful village.

A black and white of Duart Castle.
Notice the tie downs on this trailer, nice place to camp but on a windy day it can blow away.
The afternoon ferry arriving.
The last image for today, the emblem on the ferry and of course carrying on the theme, “Yellow”.
That’s it for this evening’s images, and thanks for following along. Good night from Oban.
