Scotland Blog - Thursday June 5th, 2014 - The Isle of Mull

Today we sailed to the Isle of Mull today, and spent the day photographing in and around the town of Tobermory.  We had a slight bit of rain to start the day but that gave way to an overcast afternoon.  This did not stop us as we photographed in Tobermory then after lunch visited a ship wreck and Duart Castle which is the seat of Clan MacLean.

Duart Castle was also the backdrop for the 1950's movie starring Sir Anthony Hopkins called When Eight Bells Toll and the early 2000's movie starring Catherine Zeta Jones and Sean Connery called Entrapment.

This evening we are back in Oban, then tomorrow we depart for Inveraray. We will be visiting the castle which was recently featured as the summer family house in the television show Downton Abbey. Also the village of Luss and on to our last location of the tour Eriskay. We will be there for the next two evenings.

Here are a few images from todays visit to the Isle of Mull, which by the way is part of the Inner Hebrides. Good night from Oban.

Welcome to Tobermory ... we parked next to this distillery but did no visit. But I have it on the best authority that one of our photographers dropped in for a sample!!

I apologise, but, in my opinion, you are not right. Let's discuss it.

On 5 th June 2014 the new Scotland's environment website went live. The relaunch includes the latest state of the environment report for Scotland which provides an assessment to the changes to Scotland's air, land and sea and what's being done towards maintaining or improving them. There are many other new features on the website, including a new homepage search function which allows you easily to find topics of interest.
