Exploring Modica in the province of Ragusa
Today we spent our day visiting Modica, a mountainous city with a population of 54,500 people. The city is situated in the Hyblaean Mountains and is the historical capital of the area. The city was rebuilt folling the devastating earthquake of 1963. Today Modica is well-known for its rich repertoire of culinary specialities, especially the chocolate dating back to aztec era. This chocolate contains no milk products. Modica is an Unesco Heritage Site. Tomorrow we depart for Catania ant then on to Taormina. Below is the link to todays gallery of images.
