Vietnam & Cambodia Tour
Saturday Mar 01, 2014
We started this morning with a model photo shoot assisted by a local photographer Anthony. He supplied 4 models dressed in traditional Vietnamese outfits and we met at the city post office. This heritage building was the backdrop of our shoot. We created it to have some fun and a chance for our photographers to meet some of the local photographers that get together here on a regular basis to photograph. One gentleman we met is a New York City native who has lived in Ho Chi Minh City for the past 25 years. It was great to share some of his experiences and the changes he has seen here over the past quarter century. One story he shared was a location near the post office where the famous last helicopter shot from Siagon was photographed. He said it’s quite often told that image was shot at the embassy but it was actually down the street. This is a city steeped in history and heritage and it was great to experience some of those locations.
We also visited the Chinese Wholesale Market where there is more merchandise than 20 Walmart super stores. Plenty of photo opportunities here.
Our evening was topped off with some of the group selecting an optional Vespa at night experience. We traveled though the city on Vespa bikes visiting local eateries, and a jazz club and wrapped up with some good old rock n’ roll. We visited five locations in total and had a blast being driven through the city on Vespa Bikes.
That’s it for tonight’s blog, tomorrow we have a family picnic with some locals in the park, more about that adventure on Sundays blog, and for dinner tomorrow night a dinner cruise with Bonsai River Cruises on the Siagon River. Enjoy the pics from today.
