Today we traveled to Rose Valley. We visited the Karlovo and Kazanlak fields, as well as some parts of the Nova Zagora fields. The Total area is about 3,300 square kilometers. We stoped for a visit to the oldest local distillery and learned how rose water is made and rose oil distillation. We also had the opportunity to meek the local producers and take in the aroma of natural oils, produced here: rose oil, lavender oil, etc. We then drove through the Valley of the Roses to Kazanlak.
Later in the afternoon we took a city tour of Kazanlak including the Thracian Tomb. The frescoes are the finest masterpiece of Thracian art. Our Bulgaria adventure continues.
