China Day 1 - June 16th, 2018
After two flights and almost 18 hours in the air we have reached Beijing. On our arrival day we had some downtime to adjust the new time zone and rest up prior to beginning our 18 day China experience. The following morning the 16th we set out to explore Beijing with a visit to the Egg or the Beijing Theatre of Performing Arts, a great destination for photos and to start our tour. We then walked to Tiananmen Square which is amazing to stand in the centre and think about the history of this region. We then walked through the main gates and toured the Forbidden City. This afternoon we visited the metro area of Beijing had a traditional lunch and explored some of the older regions of the city. We wrapped up are day with afternoon tea, and learned about traditional Chinese teas. A great first day in China. Tomorrow we depart early for a visit to a section of the Great Wall.
