China Blog Day 2 - June 17th, 2018 The Great Wall
A great day in Beijing this morning ... we woke up to rain and thunder which gave us two things clear air and a dramatic view of the Great Wall of China section we visited today. We started our morning by visiting a Jade Factory, giving us opportunity to photograph how jade is cared and pieces are brought to life from blocks of the stone. Then on to the Great Wall. The section we visited was built during the Ming Dynasty and is 610 years old. The wall stretches from Mongolia to Russia borders. We took a short cable car to the top and began our hike. What an amazing piece of history. The clouds from this mornings rain added to the mystic of our location and kept things cool and we had plenty of time to explore this section. Collin made it to one of the highest points during our hike. This afternoon we returned to the hotel for a rest and to freshen up, then this evening we returned to the inner city were we had our welcome dinner, Peking Duck. It was a great dinner and we were able to see Tianamin Square at night. Tomorrow we spend the morning in Beijing then in the afternoon fly on to our next location getting ready in the next day to visit the Terra Cotta Warriors. Enjoy todays gallery.
