Galapagos Islands Blog Day 8 the Island of Espanola

Early this morning we dropped anchor on the island of Espanola. The island offers up the most beautiful white sand beach and this was the start of our days photography. Sea lions, mocking birds, pelicans, blue footed boobys and American oyster catchers were the subjects of this mornings hike. We cooled off with a swim before returning the our ship for lunch.

During lunch the ship sailed to the other side of the island where we anchored in a cove for a on deck lunch. Beautiful scenery and great food. Then this afternoon we landed on the shores of the other side of the island from this mornings hike and walked to the coast following it along the rocky shoreline offering up plenty of opportunities to photograph the Wide Winged Albatross. Espanola is the only island in the world the Albatross returns to nest each season. It was a great afternoon of photography. This evening after dinner the crew invited us to the upper deck and performed an Ecuadorian dance shared some local drinks from the highlands.

This evening we will set sail to the Island of San Cristibal. Check out the map at the top of this post to seeing our evening sailing. Tomorrow brings another great day in the Galapagos. Enjoy todays gallery of images from our island adventures.
