Madagascar Day 9 10 and 11

The last three days have not been good for internet connections, so we are combining our final three days of blog together. The Kirindy Private Reserve lies on Madagascar's beautiful western coast, with the Mozambique Channel to its west and encircled by lush natural landscapes. This privately managed reserve provides a sanctuary for a host of endangered ecosystems namely dry deciduous forests, and a collection of wildlife which includes the giant jumping rat, seven endemic lemur species and an array of bird species that inhabit this swathe of unique vegetation and the fossa. The fossa is unique to the forests of Madagascar, growing up to 6 feet long from nose to tail tip, and weighing up to 26 pounds, the fossa is a slender-bodied catlike creature. It was amazing to have the opportunity to photograph them during our forest night walk. They are not huge but very ferocious. We have now reached our furthest point on the west coast and now are heading back to Morondava to overnight before flying back to the capital. One more night than we be being our journey home.
